Many years ago I worked with a lovely lady named Connie who always told me to, “inspect what you expect”. Â That lesson came home recently because my blog, that should post every Tuesday, stopped working. Â Now no one was sitting around waiting for my next blog post, but at the same time, because I didn’t check in on it to make sure the automated process was working, when it stopped, I didn’t know. The same can happen with tasks you assign other people. You can have all the confidence in the world in someone but things happen and if you don’t double check, they might not happen. How Easy Is It to Contact You?
People – have you ever tried to contact YOU? I’m telling you – it isn’t easy! This week I’ve had a number of clients who needed specific people to contact. In each case I knew who they should contact, but didn’t have their contact information. In one case, the corporate website didn’t list individuals so I had to track it down through LinkedIn. No biggie – except the individual I know didn’t have their contact information filled out. So I had to message them through LinkedIn to get them to send me their info so I could do the introduction. Unnecessary delay. On to the second case. I knew the company I wanted my client to work with but not the right contact. Misleading Reviews
Six months ago my computer started to die. Honestly, I hadn’t bought a machine with a enough hardware power to handle what I throw at them so I tend to burn them up (literally) too quickly. So this time I decided to get serious and get a machine that was beefy enough to last. Which meant I had to order it online. I determined what I wanted and did my research. I found a company that could do what I wanted at a reasonable price and had terrific reviews. It was great! Six months later I received an email from the company asking about my experience. It wasn’t stellar at the beginning but part of that was my fault. So in all fairness I answered their questions.
