I am so sick of hearing how “nobody” buys books anymore. Â I buy books and when I have to stand in line at the bookstore, clearly I’m not alone. Â Someone said to me recently, “Nobody goes to the library”. Â Really? Â According to the tour I took of our local library last week they have 1,000 people coming through the library every day. Â EVERY DAY!! So what? Â Well, if your marketing to a group of “nobodies”, you have an opportunity to really make them feel special. Â It isn’t that no one is buying books anymore, it is just that I’m unique in that I don’t have an eReader so I want a regular book. Â The bookstores can appeal to me and bring me in – make me feel special. Â In their eyes, I’m “better” than the non-book-buying person so they can say so. Â They track every […] Continue reading
Passion Translates to Others Like Nothing Else

And she knows EVERYTHING. We were walking through the greenhouses talking about plants.  On the scale of subjects, plants for me ranks just slightly above football. But there I was, diligently taking notes. Until she started […] Continue reading

I attended the KNOW quarterly luncheon today. Â It is an incredible group of women committed to business growth and networking from the greater Akron area. Â Our speaker today was Karen Hough from Improvedge. She did a wonderful job of bringing home a concept I was taught as “she who speaks first, buys”. Â It is always good to go back to basics so I wanted to discuss that concept some more. I learned “she who speaks first, buys” when I started in IT and the company believed we were all part of the sales team so we all needed to learn sales techniques. Â And in IT, you are absolutely selling your solution to a problem because generally the user has no way of knowing if you are right or wrong. Â “She who speaks first, buys” is all about making your case and then getting out of […] Continue reading
