Seth Godin put out a blog post today about making an email checklist . Â He referenced an article by Chris Anderson trying to accomplish the same. And of course there’s my rant in February on encouraging people to think before they hit “reply all”. Â Why are we all writing about this? Because we get too much email right now. Â The average person takes 30-60 seconds reading any given email. If you receive just 60 emails, you’ve spent an hour on that just cognitively processing them. Â If you have to open and read, that time goes up. Â How much time do you suppose you spend reading email? So these gentlemen have tried to come up with a list of rules for email to help streamline the process. Being Productive Through Fourth Quarter and Beyond
My very favorite weekend is coming up – the end of daylight savings time. Â I always feel more “right” during standard time and keep my schedule in my head more effectively. Â And believe it or not, I find I am more productive. Â Why? Â Because in my head, I feel like I have an extra hour. Â It is incredibly motivating when I look at the clock thinking it will be 4:00 and it is actually 3:00. Â I have time to get the project done or take more calls, or make more calls, or whatever. Â It is a great time of year. So what things make a difference to your productivity? For many people, we are entering the time of year they get less productive.
