Social media is a large area that should be approached like advertising. It isn’t necessary to be everywhere, just where you customers are!
Facebook – New Scary Stuff
I don’t think it is any secret that I’m not a big fan of Facebook. Â I’ve had many, many people tell me I’m wrong, but none of them have made a compelling argument why I should change. Now, all I see everywhere are scary stories about privacy. Â The New York Times did a great job illustrating Facebook privacy information in their article on May 12th called Facebook Privacy: A Bewildering Tangle of Options. Now I’m not saying that people should abandon Facebook (although there is a lot of that going around), I will strongly caution people to really think before they post something. Podcamp Cleveland 2010-SEO session highlights
On Saturday, May 1, I attended the first Podcamp in Cleveland. It was definitely an interesting event and I took away many things to do for both me and my clients. The key take-away for me was on Search Engine Optimization. I’ll go into more detail in my upcoming newsletter, Foundations, but in the mean time, here are the highlights! Every page should have unique keywords. You want the search engines to find each, individual page. Search Engines don’t like flash or java script. I’ve always suspected this, but it was great to have it confirmed. If you want a strong presence, skip the silly stuff. Make it easy to get back to other pages.
