Secret Questions for Passwords

Short post today, but I blew someone’s mind this week so I have to share.  A client was setting up an account and was stressed about the secret questions she needed to answer. How could she answer them so other people couldn’t find the information?  When I suggested she answer them incorrectly, she was floored. This isn’t “lying” – because it isn’t like that. This is a way for you to recover a password in the event you forget it. So, if the question is your mother’s maiden name and you enter “drwho”, you will remember it and no one will be able to guess it.  That’s all there is to it!  A friend of mine’s daughter uses her old license plate as her secret answer. Others use old names in the family that are no longer current. Regardless, making something up means it is secure and you will remember. Believe me – I giggle every time I enter the answers for Gmail.  I’m silly that way.
