I love the puppet-toons on at this time of year. One of them is a fun look at business, believe it or not! See if you can identify this case study!
Tanta Kringle has a problem. She has a large stock pile of inventory that she can’t get to market. There is a perfect market waiting for her toys, but the obstacles are more than she can handle with her current team. Enter Kris Kringle. He successfully navigates the mountain, but when he arrives in town, he hasn’t done the market research to find out how they will be received.
The Burgermeister calls him a “nonconformist” and a “rebel” for distributing toys. He is chased out of town and the toys are confiscated. He then meets the Winter Warlock who turns out to be his next market. Not only does his product meet the Warlock’s needs, it changes his whole life! The Winter Warlock becomes such a raving fan he helps Kris for the rest of the story.
Convinced it isn’t the product that is the problem but the supply chain, Kris changes his delivery mechanism until he settles on one night a year and managing it himself. It is through his determination and perseverance that he is successful.
Like many small businesses, in order to be successful he has to understand his customer, understand the market conditions and overcome obstacles. Put one foot in front of the other, and soon you’ll be walking ‘cross the floor!
